Hazel's Newborn Session
During the summer of 2020, I photographed Hazel's parent's small backyard wedding after Covid forced them to change their original wedding plans. It was such a beautiful day, and just a year later, Hazel was welcomed into the world weighing a small 5 pounds.

Hazel's mom and dad reached out to me shortly before she was due to arrive to schedule their newborn session. Luckily, I had some availability, and was able to fit them right in.

In their newborn questionnaire, mom requested light pinks and greys. I love when parents request less traditional colors like grey for their baby girls.

I always prepare my newborn setups the day prior to make sure everything matches nicely together. I keep in mind, that parents will potentially, and more than likely, be hanging some of these images on their walls. It is important to me that every image will work well as a grouping no matter which images they have displayed together from their session.

Hazel looked so pretty in pink.

We took a break after the pink setup so Hazel could eat. She wasn't ready to drift back to sleep just yet, so I swaddled her, and continued on. We chose a darker gray backdrop for the parent photos, so little Hazel would stand out in her pink swaddle. Originally, Dad wasn't fully convinced that he wanted to get in the photos, but we managed to sneak one parent pose in, and I'm sure in the end he is glad he agreed.

I switched over to a soft gray for the next setup, complete with some little flowers and pearls to add a girly twist.

Once I knew Hazel was good and sleepy, I unwrapped her for a different head on hands angle using the bucket prop.

I always add a close up black and white image to really highlight all the details of baby. I especially love this one that I got toward the beginning of Hazels newborn session. In the end, mom and dad picked a newborn package that included 10 images. These are just some of what they chose, but they did make some great selections.
