Cubero Family Newborn Session

Meet baby Ariel! Shortly before the New Year, the Cubero family reached out to me in search of a newborn photographer. I gave their family a quick call to discuss what they were looking for in their session , and found out that this was their first baby girl after having three boys! Mom's overall request was "girly"; more specifically, pinks, gems, and pearls. I mean, could you blame her?

During our phone conversation, we discussed the possibility of doing family photos with both parents and all 3 brothers, which is included with all newborn sessions. Mom opted for photos of baby only, with the possibility of a few photos of her and her daughter. When mom showed up with this beautiful lace top (pictured above), I was so excited for how gorgeous I knew these photos would turn out.

Right off the bat, baby was a little fussy, so I swaddled her to get her nice and sleepy. After photos with mom, I grabbed some simple photos of Ariel alone on an ivory blanket. I am in love with the textures, coziness, and simplicity of this setup! Next, we were onto some pink setups.

For the next set, I kept baby wrapped, and added a soft pink swaddle over top. I added pearls around the crate, and used a pearl garland for a headband. As you can see, she was extremely happy in this setup!!!

There is literally nothing better than capturing a baby's smile, and it happens more often than you would think during my newborn sessions. I think little Ariel smiled for me at least 3 times during her session.

After Ariel was in a nice deep sleep, I moved onto an unwrapped setup. Under her swaddle I had her dressed in a beautiful hand knit romper which I made specifically for Ariel's session.

A lot of my clients are surprised to learn that I personally knit many of the newborn hats and outfits that I use, specifically for their sessions. To me, this adds a meaningful touch to every newborn session, and also makes them unique in that you wont see other photographers using the same things. The romper I made couldn't have matched this mauve blanket and headband more perfectly. The headband was purchased from the amazingly talented https://www.magnoliacottageprops.com/

After completing the mauve setup, Ariel woke up and was ready for a snack. Mom fed her and she remained wide awake. I ended up swaddling her once more to keep her secure and snug for the final setup. As I always tell my clients, I absolutely adore awake shots like the one above. You can just see the curiosity in her eyes, and she's taking it all in.

It was such a pleasure meeting baby Ariel and her mother, and I'm looking forward to hopefully capturing their whole family in the near future!
